Il 14 gennaio 2026 si terrà a Bruxelles l’evento “The Longevity Agenda: Evidence, Innovation, and Policies for Longer Lives”, una stakeholder conference in presenza dedicata alle principali sfide dell’invecchiamento e alle politiche per trasformare l’allungamento della vita in un miglioramento della qualità della vita, organizzato da Population Europe all’interno del Programma Age-It. L’evento, ospitato presso l’Hotel NH Brussels EU Berlaymont e riunirà membri del Parlamento Europeo, funzionari della Commissione Europea e rappresentanti di stakeholder nazionali e internazionali, in un confronto su temi che spaziano dalla fairness intergenerazionale all’healthy ageing, fino al ruolo di tecnologie e modelli di cura nelle società della longevità. Participants will be encouraged to share their perspectives on the topic, and on how to strengthen Europe’s capacity to respond to demographic change. 11:00–12:00 – Intergenerational Fairness: Participation and Resource Distribution in Ageing SocietiesWith input by Vincenzo Galasso (Bocconi University) & Aleksandra Torbica (Bocconi University) Speakers will focus on how to ensure equitable participation across generations and the fair allocation of economic, social, and health resources in societies with longer life expectancies. The discussion will invite input on strategies to balance participation, care, and resource distribution across generations. 12:00–13:00 – Lunch Break 13:00–14:30 – Understanding Longevity: Health, Challenges, and the Limits of AgeingWith input by Fabrizio d’Adda di Fagagna (National Research Council & IFOM ETS – the AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology) & Antonio Cherubini (INRCA Istituto Nazionale di Ricovero e Cura per Anziani) Through an open exchange, this session invites participants to reflect on what current evidence tells us about the scope of human ageing, its impact on health systems, and the economic implications of extended life spans. 14:30–15:00 – Coffee Break 15:00–16:45 – Innovation and Care: Supporting People Through Technology, Medicine, and ServicesWith input by Guido Iaccarino (Università Federico II di Napoli), Luca Cuffaro (University of Milano-Bicocca) & Filippo Cavallo (University of Florence) Participants will engage in dialogue on how innovations in technology, and care models can support older adults and promote healthy ageing. 16:45–17:00 – Towards the Italian Institute of AgeingConcluding remarks by Alessandra Petrucci (University of Florence) & Monica Pia Cecilia Paiella (Italian National Institute for Pensions) The event concludes with a reflection on the next steps toward establishing the Italian Institute of Ageing and its role in fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within a European and international context. 17:00-18:00 – Reception
